Do you know what question I hear extremely frequently?
What is the big, gray structure at the corner of State College Boulevard and Birch Street? It is sooo unsightly! That holds true, it won’t get any rewards for appeal, but it is a five-story parking structure for the Brea Place apartment or condos under building and construction by designer Avalon Bay.
Quickly, nobody will ever again see that big unsightly parking structure since five-stories of 425 apartment or condos, Structure A, now being developed will entirely conceal it. I know that won’t make some individuals happy, those who do not want any more apartment or condos built in Brea. Sorry, it’s taking place, and not simply at Brea Place.
The 425-unit apartment complex is one of 2 on the property. It will have studio, two-bedroom and one-bedroom apartment or condos plus 4,000 square feet of commercial space on the ground level. The complex will include lots of features, consisting of a fitness dining, space and conference rooms to reserve, plus a swimming pool, health club and grills on the rooftop.
According to Avalon Bay’s site, the complex will have sidewalks, gathering locations and they are even preparing to have a farmers market there too. It would be excellent to again have a farmers market back in Brea.
At the north end of the property, next to the Tracks at Brea Path, will be Structure B with 228-unit apartment or condos. It will be a stair-stepped style, at three- and four-stories high. Like the south structure, it will use studios, one- and two-bedroom apartment or condos plus a fitness space and conference, dining rooms, rooftop pool, health club and grills. There will also be grills in the courtyards of both buildings, animal locations and play areas for the kids.
My favorite part of the north development, up until now, is the extremely cool wood bridge over the flood control channel. It connects the Structure B location with the Tracks west of State College. It’s an appealing addition and an useful too.
As building and construction advances both buildings, Structure B is expected to be partly offered for tenants before the end of the year. Structure A, nevertheless, will start inviting some locals in the spring of 2021, according to Liz Pharis, Brea’s communications and marketing manager/public info officer.
That’s not all. Brea Place also consists of a hotel. A House Inn by Marriott is prepared for the big parking area near Dylan’s Restaurant on the southeast side of State College and Birch Street.
Tharaldson Hospitality Management, according to Pharis, is developing the hotel. “The hotel is presently under evaluation by the structure division,” she said, by means of email.
There were several neighborhood conferences about the Brea Place job, and it surprises me that individuals in that immediate location were amazed when building and construction started. It is a great lesson for everyone to be aware of designer conferences in your location. View your email and US mail for notifications of early conferences to get public input.
Developers might also avoid things like the gray structure concerns by installing a big making of the completed job at the building and construction zone. Some do, possibly Avalon Bay will, too.
